Pros
Great instructors...The Secretary is awesome. |
Cons
All aircraft seem to be taken by students. Avionics systems have VERY Poor upkeep. |
My Review of Northway Aviation:
I could never get a rental it seemed. I got my instrument rating there, then when it came time to remain current there were no planes available. Owner told me that students have priority on aircraft; Wrong answer Jim! I spent $12,000 getting my IFR rating, and rented his aircraft a bunch of times, and that is the treatment I get? If you want to fly IFR go to Regal Air next door, they keep their aircraft and avionics very well. Northway has a crappy new policy, no touch and goes without an instructor; again, Wrong Answer Jim!!! I think my biggest complaint is the fact that you must get fuel prior to your flight most times. It seems every time I wanted to go flying it was necessary to fire up and taxi to the self serve pumps for fuel. When the plane was low on fuel I began writing down the Hobbs time after I fueled the plane so I would not have to pay to get fuel. They "Made an adjustment" to the Hobbs time so I had to pay to taxi up to get fuel. At Regal you will find the tanks topped off when you arrive, plus the aircraft are available all the time. Although Northway has excellent instructors, the management leaves much to be desired. I asked Jim the owner about specifics regarding a Cessna 172 that was totaled by some moronic renter. He became very indignant with me and stormed out of the office like a 5 year old child. As a renter, I should be able to inquire about aircraft without Jim getting upset. Very very poor business ethic. Regal Air? Here I come....
