Make sure you know your stuff before you go to class, also don't get burned...... Think about it winter flying in Traverse ummm snow ice, weather storms, yes you get to fly but it limits you. Also choose your classes wisely you will pay for the class even if you don't take it or pass it and the college will rip you off, I was pissed when they did that to me.. Also be careful you have extra fees for tests, also you have to schedule your own check rides with non college staff after you private pilot exams.. |
My Review of Northwestern Michigan College:
Overall an excellent choice of schools.. The staff is pretty darn good at what they do.. I was a student that thought pilot was the ultimate choice for me.. It is awesome but beware the school gets paid no matter what, you are in essence just a number to them, sure the will cater to you but realize its also your money and you need to be ready before you get to school.. Also do not sign up for classes unless you are ready to take them, in example the NMC Traverse City pilot school will RIP YOU OFF because if you petition them to retake say instrument or commercial because you couldn't finish due to weather or plane breakage the college doesn't care, the do not approve petitions, even thought they tell you to fill them out.there lame excuse is you should have completed it in the time frame allotted.. So beware, they are a good school but be sure what you are getting into, if I was closer at the time to the cities I would have went to ATP because they are much more accelerated and focus more on flying rather than what makes the college look good and relying on student numbers to make it go.. Not flying college staff to ther appointments in the lakes area.. It is a more practical application at ATP it also has jet training which is not found at NMC.. Think about it NMC is good, but there is better, if you are south such as Florida, even North Carolina, you would have more of an opportunity to fly weather is more likely to be better.. YES you need to deal with ice and snow flying the Cessna to the 747, but you can do that in the simulators and ATP can put you there if needed.. Just my thoughts as a former student of NMC.....
