I recommend this flight school: Yes
Pros
-Great instructors -Good airport with lots of activity -Great community of aviators. -Expectations are high and students are expected to be professional. -Great training for a great price. |
Cons
-Aircraft are aging. and selection is limited. -They use the Jeppesen materials while they are great it is more expensive than other materials available. -limited transferable college credit. |
My Review of Wallace State Community College Flight School:
-The experience and knowledge pool here is vast. These instructors have something like 4-5000 hours of instruction given and really know there stuff.
-The instructors are great at keeping students at the edge of the comfort zone and handing off more and more responsibility as the student is ready.
-Students are expected to take responsibility for learning what is needed to achieve certificates while being mentored through the process.
-As a student nears the end of his/her private certificate they feel confident in there ability to preform at this level.
-The curriculum is not ideal if you plan on transferring to a 4 year university. Due to the way the labs are set up you would not get full credit for your training even though your knowledge is fare beyond any other graduate of an AS aviation program.
-They are limited on Aircraft. Even though they have some descent 150s, and a solid Warrior, you will not see a glass cockpit here (which is not super important) and you have to sort out your own multi engine AC for multi add-on.The aircraft are not prety and new but all the systems and avionics work as they should, are more than sufficient to get your through instrument, commercial, and CFI/II. They also have a great Piper Comanche 250 which is in great shape with the GSN-530.
-The trade off in AC is price the 150s go for $75 an hr and the warrior goes for $110.
-this negates my final CON of cost of Jepp materials which is offset by the over all cost of the program. (got my private here for final cost materials and all about $7000)this include everything I bought during my flight training headset, extra study materials for FAA written etc. and my knowledge at the level was far beyond any of the UND students at the same level.
