My Review of Peak Aviation Center:
I transferee to this flight school because my old flight school, Acent Avistion closed. My instructor was nice and seemed good. I was very wrong. At Peak, they require that before you take your checkride, you fly with one of the two cheif instructors. I failed this miserably. At 87 hours I did not know how to do short field take offs, or ground reference maneuvers. I has also been signed off for solo without taking the required presolo knowledge test. This instructor was fired, and I got caught up with the asst. cheif CFI. They caught me up for free, which was nice. I passed my checkride a week later. About 2 months after that, I was flying their DA20. I had extreme engine roughness, so I landed. There was no rule set in place regarding food or drinks in the airplanes. My passenger had a Dr. Pepper in the aircraft. When the head CFI noticed this, he said "What the hell is this shit"!? I was blamed for the incident simply because I did not troubleshoot with a checklist *there was not a checklist for this situation*. Not only did they charge me for the CFIs time, they charged me for him flying the plane for .8 hours, which was used for a test flight. I had passed my written with only a 72%, which is completely legal. The owner wanted a 90%. When I did not get it done as fast as he wanted me to, he told me I could not fly without a CFI until it was done. He then said "I am the owner, I do not have to rent to you". I have since moved. If you are planning to fly here, watch your instructors, as they do not. They will try to milk every single penny out of you. I recommend a different flight school.
