I recommend this flight school: No
Pros
Good aircraft and resources -The aircraft are 2013 172s NavII(w/G1000) -There is also nice FTD's |
Cons
-Too much UND propaganda. -Very little flexability -Cost!! While they claim to make the program as affordable as possible, in reality they cut corners on student to improve the bottom line (do not be fooled by terms like non-profit, this operation is set up to make money) |
My Review of University of North Dakota - Phoenix:
-You will continually hear statements about ho UND is so much better than any other program. The instructors are mostly young and freshly graduated. The experience pool is not that deep, and that is where the real knowledge comes from. 90% of flight training is on the student to learn and retain the knowledge UND can not make you learn, from what I have seen the program makes it hard to fail. (Do you really want to be flown around by a pilot who had to be carried through flight training?)
-This is an expensive program. $11500 for a private pilot cert and they have required FTD lessons for the private curriculum. after your Private cert you have to complete 3 more courses before your multi, commercial and instrument certificates. This increases the time it takes to complete the training, and limits your ability to take your training to another program. the final cost for this is in the neighborhood of $60,000 (Where is the savings?)
-All and all it is a decent program and I would not discourage anyone from going there especially if they would like to transfer to UND main campus to complete a BS or higher degree.
-I would do thorough research and consider attending this program carefully as it is kind of a one way street and could be extremely costly mistake in time and money.
-Students using VA post 9/11 benefits be particularly careful as they look at you like an ATM machine, There is very little respect for the amount of time, work and, sacrifice you gave to earn the G.I. bill.
